The BBC contacted local labour councillor and Leader of Bolsover District Council, Steve Fritchley recently to talk about Levelling Up. They had a look around at some of the projects the Labour Leader is looking to implement through his new document 'Vision Bolsover' and chatted to Steve about his thoughts.
Steve said, "We started to level up before the government announced they were levelling up. Sometimes you can just wait for ever for someone to come along and say here is some cash.”
Building new council houses, transforming derelict land, increasing the tourism offer and regenerating the local economy are just some of the ideas contained within the ‘Vision Bolsover’ document which will be launched in early June 2021.
“It’s that enthusiasm we need…we need hope for the future,” added Steve. “Bolsover District has ambitions. Ambitions that will see the District and our communities prosper and benefit. But for these ambitions to happen, we must all work together and make them reality.”
