Leader of the labour-controlled Bolsover District Council, Councillor Steve Fritchley has set out the authority's plans for the next few years in its Vision Bolsover - A 21st Century local Authority document.
The document details the authority's plans and ambitious projects across the district, with a number of them specifically affecting Shirebrook and the locality. These include:
- Bolsover Homes
- Growth corridor
- Town centre development
- Extend and develop Robin Hood Line
- Pleasley Vale development
Steve said, "As Leader of Bolsover District Council I have a responsibility to the whole of the District to bring growth, wealth and prosperity and I feel the document sets out this vision. I have always said that development is needed, but it needs to be development of the right type in the right place.
"Of course there will be specific schemes to certain areas and projects such as the Shirebrook growth corridor, developing the town centre and extending the Robin Hood Line can bring about many benefits to the town and neighbouring villages, so I am keen to pursue these.
"As a local authority we have already invested over £40 million in the last few years towards schemes such as refurbishing Ashbourne Court and building new council homes on Hilltop and Fir Close for the benefit of our local residents. We have the pedigree and experience to bring growth and regeneration to the area, so the projects in the document are something that I believe we can achieve."
