The former Coalite site near Bolsover has lain derelict since 2005 and it has long been an ambition of local Labour members to see this site redeveloped.
After being acquired by Bolsover Land Limited in 2012, the site now known as Horizon 29 East Midlands is being transformed into a business park with industrial and warehouse units built to the highest specification.
The land has been cleared and a new road infrastructure has been built through the development taking out the dangerous hump back bridge.
As a Labour group, we have been fully supportive of the reclamation of the site which has now created 90 acres circa of employment space and has been fully remediated, with the development plateau fully formed and fully serviced by power, water and drainage.
Local Labour councillor for Bolsover, Rose Bowler said, “The site has been an eyesore for such a long time and we have been working very closely with Nigel Lax to clean up the site. We are delighted that the development is now available for businesses as it is a key site for growth and will provide a welcome employment boost for the area."
We have worked very closely with Nigel Lax from Bolsover Land Limited and are delighted that the first deal for a plot sale is currently with lawyers who are negotiating the development of 115,000 sq ft for a local logistics firm, with hopefully others to follow soon.
Rose added, "The past two years have shown a shift of people buying goods over the internet and whilst we want to encourage people back to our high streets, we must still support the logistics industry and Horizon 29 East Midlands is an ideal base, located just off the M1.”
We are now looking forward to continuing our working relationship with Bolsover Land Limited to make sure Horizon 29 East Midlands is a flagship development, providing much needed jobs and is a huge success.
