Bolsover District Labour Group Leader, Steve Fritchley has said the communities of Bolsover District have been ‘absolutely brilliant’ over the Jubilee weekend.
“We have seen communities come together, organise large scale events, street parties and festivals and it shows just what a great community spirit we have in the District,” said Steve.
Events took place from Barlborough to Blackwell and Whitwell to Westhouses as the nation enjoyed an extended four-day bank holiday to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Afternoon Teas, fun days, workshops, outdoor cinema’s, picnic in the park, markets, duck races and street parties where staged that bought communities together and re-instated that feel-good factor we have missed since 2020.
Steve added, “To see people out enjoying themselves in our towns and villages and communities coming together after the past couple of years was absolutely brilliant. Not only did it provide some entertainment and welcome relief for local communities but it was a huge boost to the local economy as well.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the army of volunteers, community organisations and local councillors who helped organise the many events, because without them many events would not have taken place. Thank you.”
