Two of the most pressing issues at present are the cost of living and the number of cuts being made to services across the area.
Members of your local Labour Group, including local Langwith Councillor’s Steve Fritchley and Sandra Peake were at Langwith Show on 3 September campaigning against them.
Local residents and visitors were asked to fill in a cost of living survey and sign a petition against the closures of the Adult Day Care Centres proposed by the Tory controlled Derbyshire County Council.
Labour councillor, Sandra Peake said, “People are fed up with this government. It is lurching from one crisis to another and doing nothing to help those in need or the vulnerable. We will continue campaigning on our communities’ behalf until the government do more to not only help those in need but assist our local businesses who are threatened with closure due to the hike in energy costs.”
Sandra has also been campaigning to stop the closures of the Day Care Centres by the Tory controlled Derbyshire County Council (DCC) across the county including those in Shirebrook, Whitwell and Bolsover.
Which also comes on top of the closures by DCC to the two elderly care homes at Clune Street in Clowne and Holmlea in Tibshelf.
Sandra added, “We had a really good response from local people and we are continuing our fight against these cuts which will have a devastating impact on the people who use them and their families who often rely on this respite.
“Once again DCC are making cuts to services you pay for through the Council tax they receive and it is not on! The more people that sign our petition the better and we will have a stronger case against the closures, as once they have gone they will not be replaced.”
Help us to fight these Tory cuts and sign the petition.
