The construction of 19 new properties at the Woodlands in Whaley Thorns is nearing completion.
It is the first development being delivered by your Labour Council’s Bolsover Homes scheme where all homes will be fitted with environmentally friendly air-source heat pumps instead of gas boilers and electric charging points for vehicles.
The heat pumps, which run on electricity instead of natural gas, consume significantly less energy and will enable homeowners to minimise their fuel bills and reduce their carbon footprint.
And in another effort to help the environment, electric charging points are being fitted as standard, as the country looks to shift from combustion engines to electric - proving Labour locally is delivering on its pledges.
Local councillor for Langwith, Steve Fritchley said, “This development marks a significant step in our push for greater sustainability because it will be the first site to exclusively feature homes supported by an eco-friendly heating system and electric vehicle charging points.
“This is the latest in a long line of housing developments we are building and supports our ambitions to provide good quality, modern housing that meet environmental and sustainability standards and meet a local need.”
The properties are being built as part of the Labour-controlled council’s £36million Bolsover Homes Scheme. They range from one-bedroom flats, family homes and bungalows for the elderly, all of which meet a local need and demand for these type of homes.
Inside, the properties will be spacious and provide for modern living whilst also ensuring tenants heating bills are kept to a minimum.
Labour councillor for Langwith, Sandra Peake said, “The properties are coming on really well and they will make lovely homes for local people. With over 1,700 active housing applicants on the waiting list it is important that we continue to build such good quality, modern and efficient properties for our tenants to live in.”
The development is due for completion in February/March 2023.
