Bolsover Labour backs up election business pledge

Bolsover Labour group has already started to deliver on one of its election pledges by supporting local businesses and the high street.

Since the 4 May, the Labour-led Bolsover District Council have announced not one, not two, but three grant schemes to help local businesses, grow, diversify and become more carbon efficient.

The first scheme is the Rural Fund which will provide capital funding specifically aimed at supporting new and existing rural businesses to develop their products, services and facilities to help improve productivity and strengthen the rural economy and rural communities.

The second scheme is the Business Growth Grant Scheme which can provide funds from £1,000 to £10,000 and is aimed at existing businesses (trading for more than 18-months) to help them grow, create jobs, become more carbon efficient or diversify into new markets.

The final and third scheme is the Business Start-Up Grant Scheme which offers grants up to £500 and is available to pre-start and new businesses located in Bolsover District who have been trading for less than 18-months.

Labour Group Leader, Steve Fritchley said, “When we say we are going to do something, we do it. And that is exactly what we are doing here by supporting our local businesses. Access to funding can often be the make or break of a local business as they often need a cash injection if they are looking to expand or diversify their product and our aim is to ensure our businesses have the opportunity to do just that.

“These three funding schemes are just the start, so I would urge as many businesses and companies that are eligible for the funding to apply today.”But Steve was quick to point out that the help for local businesses won’t stop there as they look to put together a comprehensive package of measures, assistance and advice that will boost the local economy.

“We are an ambitious council and one of our top priorities is helping our high street and local businesses flourish. We want to provide labour and contract opportunities to local companies, we will continue to provide free advertising opportunities for our businesses and we are developing campaigns to encourage people to use their high streets more,” added Steve.

Labour locally is delivering. Labour in government will also deliver.
